General help with my beater

hello my friends i have a punto so im a legit fiat guy XD
but i also have a beater i bought for close to 100 pounds, the car is a seat marbella from 91 wicth has the 32 kilowatts. today while trying to engage 5th gear there was a strange feeling and it wouldnt engage, neither was second, im searching for another gearbox, can you tell me for sure wich would work, i have already found a fiat 127 engine plus gearbox for about 60 quids is it a straight swap? thanks for the help people

Sure its a 5 speed? I would say most '91 cars are 4 speed boxes.

If you're having issues with 2nd as well take a look at the gear selector rods, bushes might be worn or the rods could possibly be bent in someway if the whole gear selection feels a bit off

yes mate its a 5 gear box i got surprised by it also because the gear knob was warned out and i found the 5th with luck XD i am taking it to the mechanic tomorrow to see whats wrong, but probably im going to put the fiat 127 gear box witch is the same as mine. ill tell him to look into the things you said. thanks a lot
