Hey what's up im new to the forum trying to help a friend with her 1972 fiat 500L, I wondering if you guys could help me find the name and where I could buy a certain part.

It's the elbow pipe that sits on top of the carb and leads to the intake filter box. Hers apparently fell off on the road somewhere and she ordered a new one but it was too big. I'm assuming that's because there are a few different carbs that could be on these motors.

Pretty sure the carb is a Weber imb 10 or something of the like.
any help would be much appreciated.

Jon

Hi Jon, Welcome to the FF.

I doubt it has a specific name. Probably just refered to as "the elbow on top of the carburettor"

No idea where you'd get one from your side of the pond.

Jon,

Try David Besharat at www.mrfiat.com (in Atlanta) or Chris Obert at www.fiatplus.com (Santa Cruz). They both sell new and used components and should stock the part you require.

The 500Ls were equipped with a Weber 26 IMB 10 as standard.

How did it fall off in the first place? They are normally firmly bolted on.

First off thanks for the responses guys I appreciate it a lot.

Honestly your guess is as good as mine as for how it fell off, I'm guessing that the person she bought it from was doing work on it and forgot to bolt it back on lol. Apparently when she was driving it around she heard something that sounded like it fell from the engine bay and than guessed it was that and failed to retrieve it when she looked for it lol.

yea the part really must have no name cause I'm having issues locating it in the catalogs, I might have to give some of these guys a call maybe they'll know what I'm talking about if I actually explain.

Well I'm not limited to the US in my search she apparently has a lot of family in Italy, so a Europeon source would be just fine as well :)

I have one I can give you if you just pay for the shipping. I'm sure it will be less than 10 dollars for shipping.

Posted in the Gallery. Pippo at Assocar is a good guy. I bought several parts from him before I moved from Sicily back to the United States. I asked him about phone orders before I left and he said he could ship to the U.S. You would have to supply him with a credit card to pay for the parts and then be able to communicate enough in Italian to order the correct part. But, he's definitely less expensive than Mr. Fiat in Atlanta. The AF guy up north may have some connections, too, being relatively closer to Torino...

Jota69- That'd be awesome, where would you be shipping from? and would it be cool if I got a pic just to confirm?

Vvatc- I might do that, I just need to find someone who speaks italian, I would ask the person I'm doing this for but she just went on vacation to ironically Europe lol.

Thanks for all the replies

I'm stationed in Italy, It will ship from the Base USPS Office so it will be the same as shipping from the States. the only thing is that it might take a little longer to get there.

I will take a picture of it today and post it here.

here are some pics of the part, let me know if you want it

Sorry been a bit sidetracked this past few days, yea I do.

Got a question though, see the girl I'm helping out got a replacement part before I got involved and it looked exactly like that, the only problem was it was a bit too big for the carb and also didn't fit the gasket, are there more than one type of elbow part?

well I dont know if there's more than one different elbow, this one came off a 500R, I will check this week if it fits on my 500F. My 500 is at the shop right now and I dont get it back until later this week.

Some measurements might help - I'll have a look at mine tonight. My 500F was equipped with a Weber 26 IMB 4 as standard.

Wow really? Thank you appreciate that a lot I'll pm you my address.

PS: I found the part on fiatplus, it says it fits all models but I still think that's weird that that the part the girl that I'm helping, doesn't fit.

seems that each model of the 500 had a 26 imb but different variants I guess.

Talked to a mechanic and he has one in his shop, he wants 25 Euro for it.

Alright lemme get in contact with my friend, worse comes to worse she supposedly comes back thursday.
