i am new to registering but have been taking hints and tips from the forum from the past couple of weeks, i just thought it was about time to registe and get some help for myself.

I've just aquired a 1993 fiat uno 1.1 i.e.s, generally good condition, just some bits that need to touch up i was hoping you could all help me with

First off, i have one black key for it, problem is, i loose everything i touch, so i'll need to get some more somehow, i dont have any sort of keycode to my knowledge so should i still go to a general locksmith, or must i go to fiat?

Secondly, The windscreen is chipped in several places, should i bother getting this fixed by someone who knows what theyre doing or do the d.i.y kits really work and are as easy as the packaging suggests.

i'll leave it at that for now, any help would be much appreciated.

Hello, and welcome to the forum

Question 1: Uno keys are not coded so are just a simple key. Go to your local locksmith and have him cut you a new one (or two). Don't bother with Fiat because they are likely to be expensive, and will probably use the same locksmith to cut them anyway!

Question 2: If your windscreen is really bad don't even bother trying to repair it. Check out some windscreen companies and see how much they charge to supply and fit. You may be pleasantly surprised.

If it just has a few chips on it (rather than cracks) I wouldn't worry. Mine has had chips on it for the past 4 years and they haven't got any worse!

And if you feel confident enough, changing a screen yourself is actually quite easy. You can pick one up from a scrapyard for about £10 - £20, and all you need is some strong cord and you can fit it yourself.

Do you have any pictures of your Uno? If so post them up!
