Help temp and injector problems

Hi,

I've brought a 1996 1.6 Fiat Brava with a LPG implant in Italy to power myself around Europe on a Gap year. I have 2 problems with the car and hope someone can help.

1. The car doesn't run on petrol!!! only gas!! when you try to start the car on petrol the motor kicks over weakly (if at all) and then dies. The injector light remains on aswell. But the car runs perfectly on LPG, but sometimes LPG is not always available. Any DIY ideas to fix it????

2. The temperature gauge reads way below 1/2 way during highway driving(not a prob), but during city driving creeps above 1/2. I intended to change the water in the radiator to proper radiator coolant but couldn't find the the screw to empty out the radiator?? anyway any ideas??

Thanks Sam

The temperature guage SHOULD creep above half, and I do mean creep.

I've had 4 Bravo's and every one of them has just gone over the halfway mark when idling/potting around the town. That's because the waterpump is not running at it's maximum efficiency due to low engine revs, which is why the fan should kick.

When the fan does kick in, mine all used to drop back to half (Fan stays on for about 30-45 seconds)

Not sure about your first problem, Ask Tom.

1) most likely a dead injector, especially on an early model. Pre 2000/2001 have an electrical issue where the injectors just die. Blame Weber.

2) old worn out thermostat, relatively easy change. The temp should sit around half way when moving and should get just over half way when stationary before the fan kicks in.
