I think that the original factory fit door speakers are 13cm, what I need to know is can I fit any 13cm speaker into the aperature or do I have to fit Fiat specific speakers?

All info greatfully received.

Thanks

Scotty

the original mounts are 5inch by 7inch and not 13cm you need an adaptor to fit them.

you can also fit 16cm speakers with an adaptor.

Re: Re: Help speaker info urgently required.....................

Any idea where I can get the adaptors?

With the adaptors will any 13cm or 16cm speaker fit?

Thanks

Scotty

Re: Re: Re: Help speaker info urgently required.....................

sure drop me an e-mail and i will give you contact details

and yeah any 13 or 16 will fit then, the adaptors are only cheap less then £15

Re: Re: Re: Re: Help speaker info urgently required.....................

13cms 0r 16cms, these are 5.25" or 6.5"ers are they?

Sorry for the stoopid question but just need to clarify!

Also with the adapter will they fit O.K behind the door grill O.K, I don't want to be doing any cutting or anything.

Also what are the rear speakers sizes, are they standard or will I need adapters for the rear?

I can't do the shelf, the missus uses the Bravo most of the time and she doesn't want to lose any shopping bag space!
Women really need to get their priorities right!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Help speaker info urgently required.....................

Yes Martin they fit fine no cutting or trimming needed, although be carefull not to buy speakers with too big a magnet the space is a tad bit thin.

the rear ones can have an adaptor as well to allow 13cm although i am not sure what the standard size is.

if you want to save space in the boot but you want a great ice install you could always get what i have got it is called a sound board, it replaces your parcel shelf and has the speakers/ sub mounted on there leaving a completly clear boot (although amp is in there but thats it)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Help speaker info urgently required.....................

Thanks for the info.
I had a soundboard in my old Uno, trouble is the mrs moaned so much cos the shelf was too heavy!
So the speakers have to go in the existing holes.
And yes I do like a nice easy life!

So next point, what speakers should I go for front and rear? Dunno about price I guess £100-£150 for the 2 pairs, my head unit pushes out enough power, I don't have it monster loud so, don't need any amps. I am just after a better quality sound.

Speaker adapters:

Also those speakers that Daz posted look pretty good, but how much better are they then these:

I know you generally get what you pay for but are they worth the extra £22:50

Oh here they are even cheaper:

Martin drop my an e-mail on the above address and i will be able to point you in the direction of some good ice, and easily within your budget :)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Help speaker info urgently required.....................

Daz, dont buy the Infinity 7x5's as they will not fit within the factory speaker hole, there too deep and too long, I've just learned from experience!!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Help speaker info urgently required.....................

Hehe!! Which alpine amp do you have? I'm slowly pinning down my install. I should really tidy the car up and try for some soundoffs with what I'm planning.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Help speaker info urgently required.....................

Not sure if you were talking to me or not, but i'll post anyway 'cos i'm bored..lol

I have an Alpine V12 MRV-T420, i think it has a slightly new cover now, but i believe its the same under the shell, its about 320w rms (When bridged).

At the moment, it is running on just over half gain (on the amp), it was running 2 infinity perfect 12's, quite easily.

If you want a monster sub, try the new Pioneer TS-W5000SPL, its rated at 2000wrms @ 4ohms, not bad for £800!!!.

Another good Amp is the Xetec Prestige P2 amp, its rated at 1100wrms and its only £395...oh did i mention that was at 1ohm stable..lol..(ear piercing or what!!!):):):)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Help speaker info urgently required.................

I'm after hi-fi, not corsa **** boy loud :)

1ohm?? Hmmm... I'm not sure the damping factor would be very good at 1ohm. I run my PA at 2ohms but my amps are somewhat bigger and have a bit more than 12V to play with. (just over 2.5k RMS per ch into 2ohm)

I'd love to get hold of one of these supposedly massive car subs and see how long it would last. I saw one rated at 6k RMS. I think it would fry quite quickly in my hands! Muhahahahaha!!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Help speaker info urgently required.............

One of my neighbours bought a 1000wrm sub & 1000wrms amp last xmas, it lasted 1 day!!!..lol

The speaker was huge mind, it got delivered in a crate..lol

The speaker was 4ohm, and the amp was 1ohm, you can see what happened next...:):):)

Bearing in mind it took him about a day to wire it in.

He wired it up, turned it on, blew the voice coils off the speaker, and the speaker guard off, and through his back window, very expensive on a calibra. :)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Help speaker info urgently required.....

Did he used to work at a Fiat dealers Tom?

;)

Shabash!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Help speaker info urgently required.........

LOL!!

I did have an amp go full DC once, about 170 volts into an 8ohm 12" mid driver. The amp went into protect but not before the voicecoil of the speaker had exploded out of the cone in a shower of sparks.

One of the other engineers calmly said 'is it supposed to do that?'
