HELP!!! sounds like its gonna break up

My girlfriend is currently stuck on the motorway with out 97 Fiat brava 1.4 which has a booming sounds coming from the exhaust or mid-underside. Also a heavy rattliong sound from the area of the metal 'box' just in front of passenger side rear wheel which appears to be connected to the exhaust. Any ideas? has the exhaust a hole in it? the hollow roaring sound is bad when accelarating and at lower speeds. Can she drive it to a garage without wrecking anything else?? How much should we expect to pay??

hey mate im not sure if im right but a know fiat prolem with fiats is the exhaust manifold coming lose from the block and i reckon this is wats wrong, gives an awful sound, but then it could be just a simple hole in the exhaust, either ways it sounds lie its definately just an wxhaust problem so i would say u can drive it ok
