I've lost the last thread we had on this about a week or more ago and cant seem to bring it up in a search either.

Does anyone have any links to retailers online?

Is it really necessary to cover say more than 50% of the area, or does partial application lesson any unwanted resonance drastically
(given how much i'm realising it could now cost to cover it all!)

Hadn't occurred to me that when you were all referring to the stuff called brown bread, that this might have related to its thickness. Does the 'brown bread' stuff resemble the Dynamat just the same (I've got two roles (all they had)of some Ivanhoe stuff form my local, foil backed and about a mil of foam/tar - sound about right? or poor comparison to the like of dynamat, that might be thicker for one thing!?).

Stuff I've bought comes in a role that is 1.5 times mat size of Dynamat and costs 15 a roll with bit of discount. Still wondered if cheaper online anywhere (can't find any suppliers though)..?

All sound deadening materials are pretty much the same, they just add weight to the pannels to stop them vibrating as much. Even dynamat extreme does just this despite their claims :) dynamat extreme actually only works how they claim over about 30degC.

Partial application does nothing useful, you've gotta cover the whole pannel.

Just out of curiosity how much is would full sound deadening cost and would it slow ur my car down loads (1.8HLX) ?

Between 150 and 500 depending where you got it from.

Its no heavier than a boot full of shopping.

Do you know anywhere that would fit it for you?
AND
The £150 stuff is that rubbish quality? (be nice to make cabin really quiet but dont wanna spend a fortune on it).

I don't know anywhere that will fit it for you.

Most sound deadening is actually the same stuff, just different name on the box and different price. Most of the people I know use the cheap stuff as its just as good.

thats aquaseal flashing tape, £7 from B&Q for the same roll :)

1 roll is about enough to do a door.

Sorry bout this lads - I'm not too knowledgable on sound deadening.

Is it just the doors you can sound proof and is it a very long and big job?

I was going to start with the doors J (since I'm just now removing the glass to tint them)but what with the waterproofing membrane and the difficulty in accessing the panel internally, I'm not even guna try (plus the inner layer on the outer door seems to have something bonded to the inside anyway). I doubt either I'll bother with the boot as this too semms to have a fabric layer bonded to it beneath the lift up carpet.

Some on here have soundproofed more particularly for the sake of keeping sound in, rather than road noise out, so they do the roof too (If I was this way inlcined, it would be a good excuse to get rid of that awful grey). However my own endeavours are driven by a boisterous exhaust I wish to tame, so I am guna do the floor after taking all the seats and carpet out.

The Ivanhoe Sound deadening stuff A1Motorstores have supplied me with costs 15/roll (with disc')and you get 0.75m X 1.0m, compared to Dynamat Extreme 0.6 x 0.6m and it costs more too. Figure it should take no more than 4 sheets to do my floor.

I did manage to find one supplier online who sold all types inc Ivanhoe (after I changed the search criteria from 'sound proofing' to 'sound deadening'..DOH!), but not at reduced cost compared to likes of A1 or Halfords.
