Punto how do tell if the engine is 16V or 8V. is there an easy way to tell, has the 16V twin OVC ?

the 16v has twin OHC.

The 8v has a valvecover that is flat, while that 16v has a two-part enginehead, with several bolt-covers and spark-plug-leads in the mittle, and the 8v has them mounted on the back of the engine.

Thanks for that, this engine has only one cam pully,
the markings on the body is 176B4.00 which is the 8V on the engine it is B46481014, and the car is a 60SX, but the DVLA have it as a 16V HLX ?

The 8v has oil leaking from the rocker cover

Typical 8v then my first car did that too

60 = 1.2 8v

dvla often get things wrong, OR your car could have had an engine transplant at some point or another (cam belt may have gone on the 16v and wrecked it!)

Yea my rocker cover leaks oil, went in for a service the other week, they cleaned it all up and i fitted a new rocker cover gasket but the oil has come back a week after the change! is it a problem at all?!?!?

My rocker gasket is leakin as well i'll have to get it sorted and who would have guessed its an 8v..

Maybe they didnt clean the edges or never used sealing around the cover..?
