im from the philippines, got my fiat uno 2 years ago. got a problem with my carbeurator. i had it overhauled but gasoline started leaking on the sides. and i bought the kit. and it still not fixed. although it's a lot better now. but have trouble in acceleration. it's very slow when im changing from first to second gear. the car moves very slow:) another problem i have is my front shocks which is virtually busted now. can anyone there recommend what other make or brand of shocks i can buy to replace it. thanks:slayer:

Hi,
It could be that your carb float level is wrong and there is too much fuel in the float chamber and that is leaking over the top. Another possiblity is that some of the Weber carbs are in two pieces, an upper and lower section, if the two bolts holding these are loose then fuel will leak too. You don't say what type of carburator is fitted to your car. If you let me know then I can give you the float setting for it.

:) THANKS UNOMIA, sorry im not well versed on the kind of carbuerator. but i promise to take pics so you can see it.
i remember when i had it fixed, one time when i changed gear, the engine just went dead. and i can only run on first gear. then my brother in law adjusted the float, i think and i did drive the car back home. and had it fixed....

:idea:i want to thank AlexGS for that informative response to my private message. you where right i got another help in the forum. regarding the problem with accelerating from 1st to second gear. im just starting to run and it's really a slow acceleration. just wondering why? now i notice when i start off with 1st gear my uno shakes a lot and runs smoothly. when i change to second it runs very slowly. i have no problem with 3rd and 4th gear, it runs smoothly and fast.
i will try to apply on my uno regarding the info on cambelt.i will upload pics. i havent seen an original engine placement. cant tell you if my uno is made in brazil or europe. just see the pics. thanks.

UnoMia, sori im very busy as of the moment, i think my carb is a weber brand. like you described that theres an upper and lower chamber. i think its not the screw but rather the thing you place in between the spaces that is causing gasoline leak. this was observed right after i had my carb overhauled. it got worst. :bang:

That will be the carburettor gasket you're talking about. If it gets damaged it will allow fuel to leak. Other possible causes are failed diaphragms that can cause leaking. And as has been mentioned, an incorrectly set float of damaged needle valve will cause flooding and the symptoms that you describe.

You need to overhaul the carburettor or fit a new one I'm afraid.

:)UnoMia here are some pics of my carb, hope it can help, sorry im not familiar with technicalities. im just starting to learn here,
:(I tried fitting a same carbuerator from a friend who had it stock for a year. it just became worst. it wouldnt start. a friend mechanic told us that stocked weber carbuerators wont work as intended.
any body knows how much a new weber carbuerator would cost?
if its clear you can see gas leaking on the sides and the first pic i think gas leaking on the cover...
