I have a Y reg (2001?) 1.2 Brava. Some time ago the yellow engine warning light came on and I had it checked by the main dealer. They said that they had cleared the faults from the ECU and that there was either no fault, the crankcase sensors were dodgy or the ECU was on its way out. A mile down the road and the light came back on. I've more or less ignored it but recently the car has been running rough, dropping onto three cylinders at times, especially under load. This morning it has been down to two cylinders and isn't very well at all. Am I right in thinking that it is more likely to be the ECU than the sensors? It was serviced in either August or October, so plugs and leads should be ok. I wouldn't expect it to run rough then get better if it were either of them.
Anyone got any advice while I try and find a scrapyard with an ECU? And can I use one from any engine size or does it have to be a 1.2?
