Help please - changing oil

I'm going to change my oil and filter and just wanted to know what tool i need to remove the sump plug? is it an 8mm allen key?

Also it there any point in keeping the sump guard?? it's broken and been cable tied up but still hangs low!

Yes, mine was an 8mm allen key. As for the guard, if it hanging off, take it off. Mine had the same problem and decided to fly off at over 100mph down the motorway.

damn cable ties

it's a P reg 1.8HLX

the sump guard it bolted on at the front but only cable tied at either side at the back and hangs down in the middle at the back, and cos the car's lowered it just catched on things, but it's hanging down by about 4 inches away from the engine so I think i may just take it off

My guard is off. Slightly noisier but no great shakes.
