yeah..revs rise but car goes no faster is clutch slip...How long have you had this car? It did this on the test drive?

I've got a 899 cinq and I get this as mine is due for a clutch, hope you sort it tho 
Rare, though for the clutch friction plate on an NA Cento to give up before the thrust bearing!

Hi I have an sx 1.1 which caused me no end of bother.In the end I replaced the crankshaft sensor (£32) and bingo its a new car.A lambda sensor for one of these is £56 and it has 2.The one in the pre cat (behind the heatshield) requires removal of the shield to get at.The crankshaft sensor is at the base of the engine and requires the removal of the drivers side wheel and wheelarch cover to get at.It plugs in at the top of the engine to the left of the air filter box.I dont know if this of any use to you but I hope so.Pray your clutch cable never snaps because thats a whole new story...:bang:
It's all pretty simple. Access isn't great, but compared to an MR2 it's a walk in the park.

It does sound like clutch trouble, also sounds like the valve timing is out. I am in Winslow and can have a look at the valve timng and give you an opinion if you like. PM me with phone No
