Hi.
I've got a large format epson printer that I'll be using in my work shop in my back guarden (ok its a metal shed) I've got a laptop in there but its not a great one, I'm wanting to use the printer via its network port so it can run faster than off the printer port on the laptop. we've got a wirless router in the living room, but I'm not sure what else I need to get it running.

Do I need another wireless router to talk to the one in the living room then plug the printer into that, or can I use the wireless on the laptop then plug the printer into that's network port?

I've got a spare BT home hub kicking around, could I use that if I needed another wireless hub?

thanks
Ben

Edit: forgot to say, I'm wanting to use the PC in the office do do the design's on and send them to the printer in the shed. hence why I'll be needin the wireless network.

the phone line's at the front of the house, so dragging a phone extention to the shed's not ideal. plus the wireless card in the pc's only a G the laptops got an N+ so that's fine being further away from the router.

unfortunatly the printer hasn't got a usb on it, its an old 1220 wide roll printer.

You would need to set up printer sharing on the Laptop that is connected to the Printer, then set it up on the PC you will be printing the work from!

Will run through your wireless network. :)

You may find wireless ain't great in the shed as its a metal box - a kind of faraday'scage thing going on. Can you get a decent signal to the router with the laptop in the shed and the router in the house?
Provided the signal is OK what you can get is a wireless bridge that makes your printers ethernet port go wireless. I used to use a Belkin one with an old iMac that couldn't accept a wireless card. You could use the laptop but that means having it switched on all the time which ain't ideal unless its going to be used to run a web server/nas box or something as well.

I'll have a look at those, I've not seen them before. yep the signals good/very good all the time.

thanks
