Hi need some help please.
I have an 02 Punto Active, petrol version, 1.2 engine.
On the way home from work, the car started kinda losing power, the revs semm kinda constant and car is struggling going up hill etc. ON the dashboard the EOBD system engine control system light is on. Does anyone know what this is? I'm not very good with techie things on the car asI am a compllete novice. I did fill up with petrol that morning. Do you think it could be anything to do with that? A friend says it might be dirty fuel.
Any advice would be appreciated as I'm trying to avoid a hefty gargage bill if I can. ( They can always tell I haven't a clue lol)

welcome to the forum mate, did it feel really slugish? cos' thats what my cinq felt like when the hg went struggling up hills and being really slugish, was it overheating?

thanks for replying. No it wasn't overheating, and seemed to be fine before this light appeared. Any ideas?

The engine management light means there is information stored on the cars computer, a garage or a friend with the right tools can see what this is, often the cause of these is best interpreted by a specialist, ie FIAT as they can test the sensors etc. Best to get this done ASAP before it causes more problems, could be the car has gone into limp home mode (limited rev range to protect components - hence the struggling up hills etc), if your a member of the RAC/AA they can read the codes and reset them if needed.

Or if you live nr Ayr, Glasgow i'll have a look for you.
