Technical Help needed 19.mutijet diesel

Can anyone help. I have a Croma Dynamic, 06 plate with the 1.9 Multijet Diesel engine. When I accelerate in 2nd or third gear, there is a slight judder as if the engine is stuggling for power - a slight lag. On a run it is ok. Fuel economy is about right but I was wondering if anyone had experienced a similar problem or knows of a solution.

I am Darren by the way, a newbie here but not a Fiat virgin. I have had a 127 and a Marea in my time. Hello all. I am a diesel virgin as have been petrol until recently.

Does it ever judder from a standing start? Could be the clutch slipping.

Other causes of power lag are dirty air filter leaking air hoses and sticking turbo wastegate vanes. The latter can cause the engine to overboost so the ECU cuts fuel supply then feeds it back when air pressure has dropped.

Many thanks for responding. No it does not judder from a standing start. As I go in to 2nd, there is a momentary judder when accelerating. The clutch seems all in order and no slippage.

I would be looking at the turbo wastegate vanes. If its high mileage the best option is probably a service exchange turbo.
