hi can any 1 help my 1.9 td tipo idles at 1100 and cant seem to turn it down really anoying when stuck in traffic cheers :)

it idles lower about 1000 when cold and then can go up to 1200 most of time it stays 1100

then it sounds like the idle speed control actuator on the throttle body isnt moving, which suggests it is faulty or the coolant temp sensor is faulty, or either of those 2 have a wiring/connector fault.

jug its a diesel there is no throttle body. Have you adjusted the throttle stop cable on the injector pump, is it a lucas pump.

The cable can get gummed up in the return spring where it attaches to the pump. Clean all that, oil it and check for free movement. Also that the cable running back through the engine is totally bend/constraint free .

cheers to all 4 advice it appears that a cable on the pump was botched stoping a lever to move back i unbotched all good :)(y)

The cable can get gummed up

I have that on the accelorator cable where the cable arrives at the end of the sheath near the throttle body... it's like chewing gum! what the hell causes it and how can i get rid of it?

I took most of it off but there must be some lining the cable outer as it sticks badly in cold weather.

I bought a new cable but it's a pain in the bum to get the cover off the bulkhead.
