Ok newbie here, Im looking to buy a fiat bravo very soon. Ive looking at second hand t-jets 120/150. ive heard a fair bit about the m32 gearbox is rubbish. Is the m32 gearbox only on the 6 speed models? Ive never had a diesel and dont really like the sound they make (tractorish).
Just a little advise into which model's dont have the m32 gearbox

Thanks

When did it change? as fiat in 2007 said its not

Bottom of the page.

8 valve 120 bhp and 16 valve 150 bhp versions of the 1.9 litre MultiJet powered Bravo feature 5- and 6-speed variants of the C530 manual transmission. These gearboxes combine torque transmission thresholds - 26 kgm and 31 kgm respectively - appropriate to high performance diesel engines with ease of use, gearchange accuracy and exceptional quietness.

And a quick search of the forum I found this posted by s130

Below is the 2007 Nuova Bravo eLearn official gearbox usage by model.

1.4 16v = C514.6 (6 speed*
1.4 16v T-Jet 150BHP = M32 (6 speed*
1.9 Multijet 8v 120BHP = C530.5 (5 speed*
1.9 Multijet 8v 90BHP = C530.5 (5 speed*
1.9 Multijet 8v 115BHP = C530.5 (5 speed*
1.9 Multijet 16v = C530.6 (6 speed*

Note! The current 2012/2013, 1.4, 1.4 Multiair and 1.6 MJet all have 6 speed boxes so could be using either an M32 or C530.6 or another gearbox.

mine is 6 year old and had no problem with the m32 :) love my 150

T-Jet Sport 150

I bought one, and loved it so bought a second one

don't worry about the horror stories about M32 gearbox

I think it would be foolish to "not worry" about a potential gearbox out, empty wallet, gearbox back in job.

Especially in light of this; https://www.fiatforum.com/bravo/345957-oh-f-k-gearbox-2.html

You personally might have had no issues whatsoever, but there are plenty of broken ones out there. So much so there are dedicated rebuilding services. http://www.autolusso.co.uk/workshop/m32-gearbox.html

There's no smoke without fire, as they say.

if i was worried i wouldn't have bought another

i would worry more about diesel fuel pump or unit injector failure, or dpf issues if i owned a diesel...

if you're an unlucky person buy a warranty (y)

all cars known for something, audis blow water pumps, rovers head gaskets, bmw suspension, if you was to worry about what could go wrong may as well go get a pedal bike lol.

i've driven the golfs, focus, astras and really do rate the tjet 150 over them :D
