My Panda is 18 months old and has done under 12000 miles and it has developed an erratic knocking from somewhere behind the offside rear wheel. It doesn't seem to be coming from the wheel or the suspension and I can't see or feel anything loose, but I can replicate it when I bounce the rear up and down. It's really annoying and I wondered if anyone had any ideas before I take it back to Fiat as it's still under warranty of course. Many thanks!

Take it to the dealer. Seriously how are we able to diagnose your fault from a description only :banghead:

Has anything been disturbed lately, such as back seat folded down or spare tyre or tool kit utilised? Check wheel nuts tight and if it still persists a trip to the dealer sounds the way to proceed. Good luck with it.

Hi Oscar,

Yep, exactly as Pete says. I have had a few occasions in the past few months where there was an annoying rattle from the back (the only way I can describe it is that it sounded a bit like a gas cylinder being shook, if you get what I mean!).

But they all went fairly quickly, which makes me wonder whether it was just something was slightly out of line. The rear seat might be a good shout to be honest; although it will click back in after being folded down, it might not quite be in properly.

Other than that, I guess your dealer will need to get involved. The 500 is well known for having crap suspension parts that fail early (albeit relatively cheap to fix). Would be a surprise if true although not completely unexpected.

Well I just wondered if anyone else had experienced anything similar, that's all. Of course it's going back to the dealer...thanks for your (unhelpful) reply!

Your welcome :D

It might be a faulty damper making the occasional rattle/clunk. Mine was replaced (both) under warranty when I detected it at the test drive, and this was a known 'fault' on Doblos when mine was built. Just a poor batch from the manufacturer.

Worth thinking about anyway.

You joined this forum in September 2013, it's now October 2013. For someone with less than a month on here you certainly have a pretty bullish attitude towards other members.

This is not somewhere to vent frustration brought on by a bad day or whatever. There was absolutely no need for anyone to respond in that way.

So, from someone who's been on here a hell of a lot longer - wind your neck in, or a moderator will be alerted. I'm not sitting back & seeing that sort of attitude towards another member, particularly from someone who's only just joined.

I did not intend to offend the op. I am an member of several forums and I see it all the time where people give ridiculous opinions and diagnosis from a members description of symptoms. I was simply saying that if it's under warranty, take it back to the dealer and then tell us the diagnosis.

I am not here to troll. I have not had a bad day either. Now can we let the op have his hijacked thread back ;)

Oscar can we have a better description please as to what speeds, suspension loading you are experiencing this knock please.
