General help folks.fiorino not charging.

hi guys.
can anyone help with this one.
i habe bought a new battery only to find it has beeen run flat by the alternator.
replaced that.
put volt meter on it and it charging very slowly. eg... 12.40...12.42...12.43... etc up to 12.90 but when you put the lights on it will drop to 12.30 and stay their.
the batt light goes straight out when ignition is started.does not stay on to say its charging..
the resistor on the inner strutt top seems fine.
any ideas folks.
is their anything else, part wise that the grey wire connects too.

both are new.replaced friday .
do they have a seperate voltage regulator.

its a 1999 1700 td.
want to solve this problem as gonna get 2 new doors ,turn it into a pick up , then lower it.
real retro.

In Germany it has been done before, turning a Fiorino van into a Pick-Up....!
About the regulator, it is inside the alternator, did you buy a brand new one, or a remanufactured one, in that case, there maybe something wrong with it.
