Hi all...newbie here...just got a 1990 H reg Fiorino 1.7d. It's an awesome motor...apart from I can't get it to go into 5th or reverse...any help would be greatfully received as it's a pain to push backwards haha!

It feels about right...not too sloppy or tight...it feels like it's gone into 5th and reverse until I lift the clutch pedal and then it grinds like hell and doesn't move. I've removed the linkage and cleaned it all up but still no better. It feels like it has a lot of play at the gearbox end (but not where it connects to the gearbox rod if that makes sense?)

It's a 1990 diesel model...no gear cables...it's lever. I think the linkage might be shot...but finding another is a nightmare...spent hours searching the net but can't find one!!!

I suspect that too as it's both gears to the right of the stick. I'll try and get a picture but it's loose at the top left as you look under the bonnet...I'll go see if I can get a decent photo now.

Bodge...not bridge lol...do you think a couple of washers to tighten it up would do the trick?

Item circled on your picture is a ball and socket. Remove the bar and check the bush.it may come out to renew. Can you take more pics of linkage and top of gear box.

Don't know any suppliers, but maybe disconnect rod and place a cut to size (inch by inch square)strong plastic bag/sack over the ball, and refit rod so plastic takes the play out. May last a while, worth a try.

Here's some better pics now I've removed it! The last pic is where it's worn out...all the ball and socket type joints are perished...how the heck do you get replacement parts for this!!!
