Hi, I’m at a loss. My Panda started running VERY hot since two weeks, and I’ve no clue why. I’ve always maintained her as best as I could, since then I’ve: replaced my head gasket, replaced all fluids (no significant discoloring), replaced all radiator hoses and the radiator itself, and replaced the spark plugs & carburetor. Now it still overheats AND has a little knock I never noticed before (video attachment). My only thoughts are that the timing chain might be worn? I’ve removed the oil pan and it looks fine.

Any and all tips are greatly appreciated, mainly I want to fix my panda, keeping a budget would be nice but I’ll do whatever’s necessary!

Thanks in advance

Also; thermostat seems to work just fine. It rests at zero, after starting it rapidly climbs into the red zone to slowly move back down after shutting the engine off. Have replaced the thermostat anyway with no noticeable changes.

Did you test thermostat opens in boiling water before fitting to car?

Is the radiator blocked?

Is the gauge reading false?

You've not mentioned the water pump......
…and you’ve not mentioned bleeding the system. Try pressure testing the system.
That knocking sounds top end tappety. You’re not going to like this but, I’d recommend starting from scratch and ensuring all water and oil journals are clear, the head isn’t warped and it’s timed up properly, then bleeding it fully, without rad cap on.
