ECU has gone, got another with same IAW number. How do I decode this so it will work with my car? (seicento 1.1 SX 2001)

I have seen computer programmes on ebay which claim to decode ecu's do they work? if so how is it done, and what other equipment will I need, price etc?

Been off the road for over a week trying to sort this out. As "to be" student nurse cannot afford to let garage fix.

Thanks in advance

i see its IAW 59F M7 that you are using this is called hybrid ecu... using a ST95080 eprom chip, ive not done this type before but my reader is more then capable of reading the data, if i can erase the chip then id be able to virginize the ecu, meaning itll learn your code of the key but id actually need the ecu here with me for a few days to try it, if you could bring the faulty one to me i could read the code of that and try flash it to the other ecu if itll allow me to erase it as some eprom are write only once otherwise i could always desolder the chip and put into the new one ;)

if all else fails theres a shop not far from mine that could code you up a new key to match the newecu it would cost around £50 for it but theyd need the car outside the shop inorder to do it.

just been looking though spec sheet of that spi eprom, dont think my programmer can do them as they are surface mount chips, looking through the support list it isnt listed.

a new serial programmer for this is around £60 so dont think ill be able to help you with it.

best bet is........

ring 118 118 and ask for the tel number for a shop called bauldins on green lane road, leicester, LE5

give them a ring and ask if they can reprogram a new key and cut you one for the fiat.

put the new ecu onto your car and tow it down to them.

take your old key with you he'll connect his computer upto the ecu read the code from it, copy the key over to a new blank and then cut the key for you.
