Hi

I am wondering if you can give me advice on how to fix a problem I have with my 52 Reg 1.2 Fiat Punto Active Sport. I have searched the forum for similar problems but haven't been able to find a solution.

None of the dashboard dials or lights work it is completely dead a part from the airbag light which stays on.

I have checked all the wiring, connectors and fuses and they all appear to look ok. I have tried a second hand unit that fits onto the fuse box under the drivers foot well from another Punto, this seem to bring on most of the dials (rev monitor, clock) but the back light and some other lights (indicators, headlights etc) didn’t work. I’m therefore thinking it is something to do with this box. However the car would not start as the unit needs to be programmed to my car. :bang:

Has anyone got any advice on how I could fix this - could a second hand unit be used if re-programmed or is a new one required?

Hi Ziggy

Yes they are originals. I have tried 2 more clocks from other Puntos but these didn't work.

I'm assuming it is a problem with the unit attached to the fuse box as I have been able to get some power through to the clocks.

Cheers.

I'm wondering why on earth your connecting your Dash to the Fusebox? :S

And am i right in saying mk2?

Just above the steering wheel where the Dash was originally is a Plug - make sure thats clean and tight - and you dont have any bent pins

Ziggy

Yes it is a MK2.

I've had a look behind the dashboard and it all appears ok. Spoken to Fiat and they said it maybe a fault with the body control unit but these are £230 plus labour.

I'm just looking for a cheaper option or solution to this problem.

Thanks, Kat
