back box fell off a few weeks back, but couldn't afford to get a new one, so bodged the old one back on with exhaust clamps + zip ties, and it worked, but got MOT tommorrow, and that won't do,

so bought a new exhaust (damn hard to find a proper one, and not the cheap double rolled thing that doesn't mount right).

and can't get old one off, its completly rusted to the end of the cat pipe!

knew this would happen! I now can't drive to a garage, and am stuck at home with half an exhaust hanging off!

anybody know if theres any tricks to getting it off? (backbox pipe)

wd40 is on it now, soaking (y)

if its jut rusted try a wire brush or if your feeling generous give it a few whacks with the hammer. on the bit your taking off obviously as it wont matter if you dent that part!

already tried whacking it pretty hard!

problem is the whole section is hanging off my flexipipe, as the cat > flexpipe bolts are seized on too (replaced 1yr ago, cheap shtty bolts!!!), and the flexpipe > manifold bolts aren't too healthy either.

If I can't get this section off, I will have to replace manifold(Or least bolts), flexpipe, cat, and then the tailpipe

= £250 in parts!!!

haven't got one I'm afraid!

:(

thinking of taking a hacksaw to the remains of exhaust tailpipe, then I could least remove the offending remaining pipe, also hoping i coudl then 'peel' the rusty bits of the pipe off the back of the cat pipe.

reckon it'll work?

What I did is borrowed an angle grinder from a kind neighbour and 'slit' the pipe on the outside and peels it back a bit and it swivled off eventually.

Get a heat torch im sure there only about £5-£10 for a gas one. That will work in no time (y). But I surpose you need a car to go buy one huh?

yeah id go with the hacksaw just make sure you dont chop off too much.

you should have put some protective paint ove it last time, could always do it this time, get soem high heat paint or hammeright clean the ares down with a wre brush and whack some of the paint on, should stop the rust for a while anyways, especially to the bolts ect.

I might do thatto mine wen i relpace the exhause, live near the sea so it gets a fair bit of salt and i dont want it corrodeing away!

got any ear plugs

would the engine's vibrations and slight heat free it? with spanner

tried tapping the bolts with the spanner

um last option
drill the bolts away (only drilled nuts)

wasn't the bolts that were stopping me ^^^^

the remains of the exhaust clamp I couldn't undo, just pulled em apart with some mole grips, was quite funny!

managed to get it off! WAHEY!!!

cut the mid box off infront of the weld (a job in itslef as I had to support 10kg of exhaust somehow).
then nearly nearly nearly got my legs run over! we live on the end of a street an there is a cut into the alley way, and all the school run mums use it, meaning 80-100 drivers a day use it when 99% of them can't drive for sht.
I saw this daft women in a ka coming round the corner a bit tight (nearly hit my wall), so lifted my legs up only to hit the side of her car! If I HADNT lifted my legs both of them would have been run over by this dosey btch.

got her reg and reported it to police as she's shouldn't be on the road, not only would have ran over my legs, but she didn't notice me legs hitting the side of the car either. completly clueless.

Aside from her, and a dozen people who just sat there and honked their horns because they couldn't fit thru the 14' gap! (easily enough for an artic truck to get thru carrying a load wide enough to require an escort).

anyway, chopped the slither off with a hacksaw (took 50mins) which then fell away, then had to brush, file and scrape the rust away in order to get the new sleeve + exhaust on!

She's all fitted, and no leaks! so sucess, despite nearly becoming a bi-amputee :bang::slayer:

haha you might be able to claim some compensationmayb even mke out that the frd KA is unsafe to drive the whole world would be better without them. man thing is you fot it fitted! nice work. hope it passes the MOT!

next task is put a new set of indicator bulbs in (they went white).

only problem is, i can't open my boot!!!

somebody tried to break into the boot via the lock. so that doesn't work anymore.

So been using the cable for the last 3month, and on monday, it snapped.

so yeah, great

the cable.....SNAPPED?!?! :ROFLMAO:
You poor ba***rd!
:idea::idea::idea:
seriously though, would it be possible to take the parcel shelf out from the back seats? mabye get in that way?
Detach the strings from the boot hatch and then try and pull the thing up and out of the hinge grooves...

nah just pull seats down.

but tried for 15mins earlier to try and release the boot by pulling the outer of the cable, and with a screwdriver trying to trip the mechanism, won't work though

gonna try just unbolting the whole upper part of the lock tommorrow see if that releases it, but I@m doubting it, as the barrel itself has a snap ring that has to be removed aswell, but won't be able to get to it in teh position its in.

also to help, can't GET a new cable from fiat because the two local branchs have closed down, and the other one (benfield, what a joke) won't answer their phone

you can get kits for them off ebay. you dont need a genuine fiat cable do ya?
