Hi all, i thought i'd just introduce myself, im Martin from west yorkshire,
Right im looking for a Multipla, but need some needy advice first, im booking next years holls in france and with new addition not far away i will be needing a 6 seater,
Which engine is most reliable? petrol/diesel for long journeys, and do they both have their own problems,

Is there any advice that i should take on board before handing my cash over?

TIA

Petrol is heavy on fuel, diesel is best (mine does 49.3 mpg brim to brim). Engine is same as Vauxhall 1.9td found in Zafira etc. (2 plants joint manufacturing with GM). Yes there are problems but nothing that preventive maintenance will not prevent/cure, read postings here to get an idea. So buy one then be prepared to replace ancillary belt/tensioner/upper guide roller/engine crank pulley. MAF sensor, crank/rpm sensor, egr valve (or at least overhaul it), thermostat and possibly clutch master return spring. Front discs also wear quickly. Parts are OK and available at discount for OEM via the net. Now read the archives )

HTH
