I have recently bought a 199126 BIS with only 11000 miles on the clock one lady owner, the car is in superb codition but....on delivery it would not start.thinking fuel I added fuel to the pipes and she started until the fuelm ran ou.great new pump I thought....I replaced it with a brand new pump .started for a couple of minutes but as soon as I revved it up the engine DIED!!looking in the carb it was FULL OF FUEL..replaced the float with a new one but still the same problem.number one plug was a bit dampish but number two was soaked as were that bore!!then did a pressure test and both cylinders were makers pressure....the oil is now contaminated with petrol.I am now after two weeks at a loss..does anyone PLEASE know a possible solution to this problem, could the carb be US??any help would be so gratefully appreciated..regards Ray:confused:

Fuel in the oil is most likely down to fuel getting past the diaphragm in the fuel pump so could that be down to the old pump ?
Have you checked that you still have a spark , preferably when there is no fuel sloshing around ?

Hi thanks for the info.but yes there is a spark at the plugs.when I dried the plugs out and got all the petrol out of the carb, the car ran(Rather lumpy as if only on one cylinder)for a few minutes, but then just stopped and it was all flooded again??

OK so if the float itself is new then is it free moving, set to the right height and the needle cut-off valve in the carb lid working properly

Thanks you guys,I will try that later on.I will remove the card and check it out.......

Hi guys..tried all those (thanks) no different, asked local carb specialist(Weberman) says the carb needs complete strip down,but.....as the carb is a Polish 30/S2H there are no carb kits available so the only answer is a new carb!and....as the Polish one is not available anywhere a Weber would have to be used at a cost of wait for it.....£300 plus delivery and VAT.surely this cant be right...or IS IT???

Thanks for that.unfortunately they were the wrong ones, mine apparently is a Polish carb numbered 30/S2H and they are Webers...
