Hello everybody, how are you all doing?just joined,I recently bought a barchetta and absolutely love driving it.that is until I blew the engine up,going quite quickly.she should be back on the road soon, but I've had a little trouble with the two engines I have bought.if anyone knows of a decent supplier I would like to hear from you,my last resort is a reconditioned DTR engine.

Hi,I blew up one engine then bought another which had water staining around the head so sent it back, then bought another engine which ran for five minutes then decided to let all the coolant out of the head joint.the firm who sold me the engine are offering my money back but not the three hindered pound it cost me to have it put in then taken back out.I think it is what's know as the joys of motoring :)
Thanks for the welcome

Good Grief man, have you ever thought that a career in aerospace is not for you...:D Stick to Brian Surgery, you'll do less damage.

Welcome to the forum though...I think.

Keep us posted and enjoy.

I was told at 7000rpm the sound is beautiful and OK because of the limiter, but doing that speed you tend to be too busy to be watching the dials.my mistake, lesson learned.or it possibly could have been a sniper with a very poor shot, looks like the sump has been hit by a bullet

Thanks for the welcome.I dropped off my third engine at the garage today, will be fitted next week.

OK,it was gently placed at the garage.just for the record I have only Broken one engine, the original one.the other two have been sent back.I'm just trying to keep the courier services in business

lol! Hope it's third (no, sorry, fourth) time lucky, mate!

Maybe worth spending a few more quid for peace of mind. Is the original one rebuildable? Maybe a cheaper option than a 'new' engine. Maybe somebody can recommend an engine shop. That fives you the chance to control what 'extras' are installed at the same time.

Have you got pics of the original?

Hi I was told the crankshaft is warped and some things gone through the sump, and am guessing the head has had it as well.the engine I dropped off yesterday seems to be slightly different block so that's gone back and to cheer me up the garage has given me a bill for a thousand pound for all the engine stripping and putting back together they have done.I have still got the original engine.

Hi again, just had the fourth engine put in and what do you know head gasket problem.had enough now so they are sending the head off tomorrow to skim it and check the valves etc.if everybody reading this could keep their fingers Crossed for me that would be great.I'm determined to get this car back on the road.

Thanks kc3,Ive owned the car since November 15th and its been at the garage since November 27th.I miss her real bad,but I'm sure the wait will be worth it :)
