Hello everyone, Im looking for some advice on my R reg 1.2 Fiat Punto. Its been revving on its own whilst sat at traffic lights, and overheats after a while. Now im not sure what it is atall, because im really not clued up on this sort of thing. I had the headgasket replaced about 6 months ago and all was well up until about a month ago when it started doing this again. I have limited funds and need to fix the car in order to get to and from work without looking like a revvingspaz sat at traffic lights. The car gets so hot it sounds like its churning up and I have to stop and wait for ages for it to cool down. Hope this gives you an idea of the issue. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
There could be quite a few reasons for the over revving which as well as being a problem in its own right will exaggerate any cooling system inadequacies that may already exist. Take a look at the thread below and also do a search in the Punto section for more ideas if none of these are the cause of the problem.
