hello new to this and need some help

i have a fiat brava 1.4 sx 1997,i was driving along today went over a bump and my speedo,temp gauge and petrol gauge stopped working any help, i've been told that it could be a lose connection or a broken wire in the steering does anyone know if this is right and is it going to be expensive, i use this car for my work and cant afford for it to be off the road to long. i'm also worried about disconnecting the battery as i havent got the code card or radio code will i lose the codes if the battery is disconnected i havent had the car long i've only ever had fords before! help!!

Not certain but it would be worth having a check of the service fuses before taking anything apart.

If you want to do a quick check the speedo is held in by 3 allen bolts on the underside, 1 each side of the steering column (drop it down as far as it will go) and one inside if you open up the fuse box (infront of your right knee).

Once they're all out you can persuade it out to check for simple loose connectors.

hi! welcome to the forum, had a similar problem on my oold alfa turned out to be an incorrectly rated fuse

Thanks to everyone who replied i now know what my problem is,its a broken wire behind the dials and the garage from wear i bought the car has offered to fix it free of charge,how good is that .
