hello insurence for 17 year old

hello every one I'm new to the forum i have just purchased a fiat punto 1.2 8v 2001 on a y which needed a clutch so i have changed it, and she is new running smooth i am 17 in 2 months time and i am faced with insurance all the quote's iv had are £9,000 :S has any one got cheap insurance on a punto ?

Hey Mic!

First of all Welcome to the forum! good to hear youve gone for superior Italian car brand

As for your insurance, Im not sure on the area you live in or anything like that but I know Ive got a 2007 Grande Punto 1.2 8v active (Super basic) and Im only paying just short of £2000. And Im 18 with one reasonably sized prang against me.

Its worth not using price comparison sites and ringing the insurance companies direct. If your polite then usually they can get you a better price.
Also try adding one of your parents/relatives onto the insurance if theyve got plenty of NCD. (preferably your mum/female relative as sometimes insurance companies like women )
But other than getting an Insurance "curfew" GPS box by going with companies like IKube, "Insure the box" and Cooperative Insurance then I cant think of any other ways of getting it down.

yeah when i went on the price comparison sites it was coming up with £9,000 im going to weight till im threw my test and have my license then going to ring the insurance company's up direct.

Good plan man,
you never know what sorta prices your gonna get until your actually 17 and passed your test
Its worth to get someone to double check all the options your putting into the forms on the price comparison sites aswell, Might have accidentally clikced the "Im a serial rapist and murderer who drink drives" button!

its usually cheaper to insure yourself on a provisional license
