now this is a bit of a strange tale but stick with it! I actually run an 07 Audi A4 2.0 TDI S-Line, I've only had it 3 months and i've done over 10K in it! So I just happened to have my old Punto still in the garage of a house I was doing up over in Wales.... It's been in there for 2 an a half years!! I though to myself that I would run it and save the milage on the Audi!
But with doing up the house and actually living in Manchester it got forgotten about and I couldn't even remember what originally put it off the road! Doesn't time fly?!
Anyway, I pumped a rear tyre up, put a new battery in it and some diesel and BRUMMM started first turn of the key, amazing!! The gear stick wouldn't centre but a quick read of one of the posts on this forum and that was sorted and then for a test drive...
Within a minute I remembered why I put it in the garage! It ran flat as a fluke, no power until the temp guage got to normal running temp and then away it goes. Read another thread about the MAF senser and fixed that and now it runs like a dream, the Audi has been abandoned and I'm having fun in my little Punto again and my fuel bill is much less and has covered the extra tax and insurance!
Who would have thought that an Italian car could take that sort of neglect and come through so well? Mind you I'm keeping a close eye on the posts to see what woes I can expect in the future (EGR, crank sensor etc...) but for now, I'm made up!!
I know I'm rambling now but I'd just like to say thanks to all the helpful posts on this forum, it's brought a Punto back from the dead!!
