Hi, first post on here and I need help :)

Just bought my other half a Punto Mk2 Sporting and it comes with this head unit

My question is, can a cd changer or better still an Ipod adapter be fitted to the back of the unit??

If not can I get a genuine CD player with changer controls that will accept an Ipod adapter, (she would like t keep it original in the car)

Thanks

Yellow connector = Subwoofer
Green connector = Telephone
Blue connector = Aux-in (CD multi-changer on mine)

Thanks for that, so to make 100% sure, if I get a connects2 Ipod adapter and plug it into the blue part at the back, when I press the source button on front of headunit, it will go from radio -> Cass -> CD Cdhanger (Ipod)

Have I got that right??

Thanks again

I cant remember if the MK2 Punto allows you to select source apart from a CD changer which the Model No Blaupunkt A09 CDC.

Have a search around for MK2 Aux and similar in here and the punto section. Sorry i cant remember the outcome of these sort of things.

This is why we need an FAQ section.

Ok, another way of looking at it, she may well use her headunit she already has, the yellow connector for the sub can that be incorporated into the new headunit at all???

I don't know where the yellow one being sub came from. All RCA outputs from blaupunkt units have used the blue plug. This feature as far as I am aware not active on the standard units.

Aux Input is just that Aux Input, it should play whatever is connected to it as long as it's correctly wired up.

Yellow connector is output only.

If you check the picture that was uploaded of the HeadUnit it states 'Highpower Subwoofer' on the cassette slot cover. My HeadUnit (Blaupunkt) has the Sub connected to the yellow plug, in addition the manual shows this to be the Sub output on all versions on my headunit.

Blue connectors on Blaupunkt 'HeadUnits' are Aux In.
Blaupunkt 'Aux Units' have blue connectors on their output cables.

Yeah i just found a yellow RCA lead adaptor for the blaupunkt HU's in my car lol. I am starting to take notice of what im doing honest.
It doesnt actually send any signal to an amp in the Stilo and i have never seen it work in any other Fiat. Im 99% sure that it is dud in the standard units.
There is a chance that it could be put into a line level input as a bridge off of the HU internal amp but i would have to see it to believe it.

Well you only need drive up to my house and I'll let you have a look at the rear of my headunit!!!!!! Long day out if you want to get a bit of shopping in at Harvey Nicks whilst you're up here.

My yellow RCA connector only has the remote cable to the 'factory fit' sub coming out of it. This is as it uses the rear speaker cables as its sound source. If you look at Perrys second and third pictures you can see that there are 3 or 4 cables connected, which I assume will be the power and sound suppliers.

Oh yeah I know that the remote works, buy as far as I have tried none of the output for an amp does also in the aftermarket units this feature is low level, not line level from an internal amp. All of the standard subs in fiat accept line level.

Yeah tell me about it, yesterday I was under the bonnet and dash looking for somewhere to pass a nice 4awg cable thru for a sub I want in my boot. I must say the factory fit sub has some very odd wiring, as I mentioned the HU only has the remote cable coming out of it but the cable connector for the sub has about 16 wires to it. Added to which if I unplug it there is no sound from any speaker, I do hope that I'm not going to have to rewire all the bleedin' speakers!(n)

Update, fitted a new head unit today and Ipod adapter and all ok, one thing I did notice was on the original fit unit you have to manually switch the radio on or off there is not a switched feed?? Same on the new head unit, do I have to wire in a switched feed??

Thanks again for all the replies so far, oh and one other thing did a silly thing of buying a facia adapter from Halfords, what a crap fit, will contact Fiat on Monday and hopefully order a genuine one.
