Hello all. Mike in Texas. I've been working on a 79 for a year and converting it to an automatic. I'm in need of any information concerning the transmission kickdown. Brackets, routing, anything. Information at all would be greatly appreciated

Surely make, age and type of auto box will be needed. Most auto boxes of that age of vehicle would use a mechanical cable from the gearbox to the throttle linkage to activate a "kickdown" operation.
No disrespect but I would have thought there would be more auto box specialists in America due to them being more popular than in Europe.
If I was converting a manual to auto I would buy a similar model and age auto donor car as the easiest solution.:)
Generally due to the lack of efficiency of many European auto boxes of that era, coupled to smaller engine sizes made them unpopular for most people.
Thinking back, working at a Mazda Dealership in the late 1970s, I was agreeably surprised at the performance of a new Mazda 818 fitted with the Japanese autobox when comparing with current British Automatics of that time.

Thank you. If I can find an automatic here, I will surely take notice. Buy it if possible. My wife needed an automatic, so that's what I got. However, I had to buy it off the East coast and couldnt compare. I need to see how the kickdown attaches and where.
To add to my confusion, the gentleman b4 me converted to non emissions and I have a hodgepodge of parts.
