Hi, I have just joined this forum after looking through some of the threads and finding the information very useful (especially the ones about the Airbag Sensors and electrical faults).
However, I think I may need to replace the engine on my 1.6L petrol Stilo (51 plate) as a mechanic has had a look at it and tells me that I have no compression on cylinder 1 and not much on cylinder 2 either. The rev counter has also stopped working but I don't think that is related. I had a similar problem with starting last winter which went away when I replaced the old knackered battery. But I think the real cause was a cracked cylinder head or leaking gasket opening up when the temperature dropped below zero.
Anyway, what I need is advice as to how much I should expect to pay to fix it or replace the engine (which might be the better option) or should I just sell it for spares. Would anybody be interested in an old Stilo with just 45000 on the clock.
