The Momo handbrake is the Steel/Black Alcantara, it fitted on quite easily. All I did was:
· Cut the existing grip with a sharp Stanley knife length ways & peel it off.
· The Momo grip was only slightly larger than the handbrake lever so all I used was about 6 or 7 turns of insulation tape @ the button end and in the middle of where the grip would site, just enough so I had to push the Momo grip on with some force. There is no need to buy the adapter, also the Momo grip was oval in shape the same as the handbrake lever.
· Then tighten up the grub screws, I think it was the medium size I used.
The only fault is that there is no replacement button supplied, with the grip, but it still looks so much better then the standard grip. Also the price of the Momo grip is a bit steep.
The sprayed dash was a lot easier to do than I thought it would be. All I did was:
· Got a mk II heater console and top grill from a scrapy (£10), I did this for a few reasons- the vents on the mk II are a lot better quality than on the mk 1's, I did not want to rush the job over a weekend, and I did not want to drive around with no console, also just in case I ****ed it up.
· Remove the vents from the console. This was a pain the arse, they are each held on by 4 clips, which I had to snap off the male part of the clip so as to remove the vents.
· Sand the console with wet & dry 800, until there was a dull finish to it all.
· Wash the console off with plenty of water.
· Wipe the console down with white spirit so as to kill any grease which may be on it.
· I used halfords plastic grey primer; I used a full 300ml can, which was about 4 coats allowing approx. 15mins between coats. Make sure you wear a mask!
· I allowed 48 hours for the primer to dry, but 24 would probably be enough.
· I used a halfords metallic silver spray paint (to match a fiat silver), again I used a full 300ml can in about 4 coats (15 mins between coats). It recommends that you sand the primer down first but I did not bother.
· Again I allowed 48 hours for the paint to dry.
· Spray the paint with lacquer (again from halfords they had a offer on 3 cans for the price of 2). Be careful spraying the lacquer it runs very easily, so use very light coats. I used 4 coats of lacquer with approx. 15 mins between coats. I did no bother sanding the paint down prior the spraying the lacquer.
· Leave it all 48 hours to dry.
· Fit the vents back in, I used a hot glue gun over the clips which I had to snap off.
· That's it, the only thing left is to fit it in the car and enjoy it.
I'll post a few better pics tonight, when I get home.
