Please can we have more info.

Is van new to you?

Does engine start normally?

Mileage?

Is brief glow plug light a new thing or has it previously shone longer before going out?

Does glow plug light flash for a period after engine starts?

We've had the van just over a year now.
Yes engine starts normally.
Mileage is 27976
We had to send the dash clocks away as the battery light was staying on very faint and since it returned the outside temp has not shown on dashclock, but didnt relise until the temp has reduced and will not start, if you bridge the relay for 10/15 seconds the van starts instant.
Lights go straight out after vehicle starts.
We have fitted a new mass sensor and a new map sensor and none have made any difference. We did have codes p0095, p0104, p0105 the p0095 has went out after fitting the map sensor.

Can you use a volt meter between the engine metal and a glow plug connection to see if meter reads battery voltage when key on ? And if voltage present for how long?

If no volt meter do you have a test bulb?

Relay is clicking on and off straight away and no reading at glow plug.

Please post picture of relay showing any part numbers on the relay

Thanks for that picture.

I don't know for sure but I have a strong feeling that part is a stand alone glow plug controller not just a simple relay.

Search using the Bosch part number and you can find a genuine Bosch part for around £40 with free delivery.

I expect you have already Checked glow plug fuse/fuses and that none of the glow plugs has gone short circuit. If those checks all ok replace the Bosch 0281003039.
The Bosch 0281003039 is readily available so I expect there is a demand for replacements indicating they do fail.

Please let us know how you get on.

Best wishes
Jack

Replaced with New glow plug controler or used?

Check each glow plug separately .
For either open circuit or short circuit.

How did you bridge the controler?

Took the cover off the relay and pushed the points together for 10 seconds and let go off them then started the van

New or used relay/controler?

Is there a small pcb inside the cover?

Run a good good temporary extra ground to the correct pin on the relay/controler and test.

Hi sorry to trouble you, but I wondered how you cured your glowplug relay not working as I have exactly the same problem with my 2008 Hymer. Tested glow plus and they were ok so I took the cover off the relay and held the contacts together and it started straight away from cold which it has never done before. Did a new relay do the trick or was it a sensor on the engine.
Thanks for you help
David
