Just had a look around the forum on the topic of replacing the matrix, I was doing some work on my cabriolet today and noticed a bit of what I think is coolant in the plastic vent pipe near the handbrake, I have a good bit of the dash out anyway so I think I'll bite the bullet and do it, any good sources for a new one? I presume water from outside can't find it's way down that far! although given the last few months here nothing would surprise me. I rather do it now than be left on the side of the road somewhere in Europe!

No thanks, greenish slime, either very stale and slimy rainwater or weep of coolant, I'm going with latter! Nearly have dash out now so I committed. probably not a bad idea in a 1999 anyway.

I got a matrix from EuroCarParts for my 55s for £16. Before I fitted it onto bulkhead I slowly filled it with coolant then rubber bunged the inlet and outlet pipes. Fit the hoses quick (after whipping out the bungs obviously ). I had no issues with airlocks at all when I got it all back together.
