HI guys

I knew I would be back on here sooner than later. Now into my second week of ownership of my 1.9 JTD Pla and have notice that at night, with the lights on, there is no illumination of the heater controls. Is this normal or is there a bulb out somewhere.

Hi, only had ours 4 days, hope it's gonna behave itself.
Just been out to it now and yes the heater controls do light up although it would appear we have a bulb out on ours.
If all yours are out it may be a fuse?
I'm sure someone else on here can point you in the right direction.
Cheers..... Rob

Never needed to do mine but read a thread somewhere that said you pull off the three dials air / temp / distribution there is a big screw under the centre one that .. .. when taken out allows you to pull that part of the dash to bits to replace the bulbs.

I would however check the fuse first

Changed the blown bulb in ours this morning,

To verify the process, removed the gear leaver gater by unbuttonig then unvelcroing the gaiter then pulling on the gear lever plastic surround starting at the bottom, that removed easily.

Then using pliers with a small folded piece of card to cushion the teeth removed the centre dial then the allen key headed bolt that sits behind it.

Then used the pliers and card to pull on the outer 2 dials, this had the
effect of unclipping the heater control surround, from here you should be able to see the 2 bulbs underneath, (they are located in holders that are part of the dash and not part of the panel you have just removed).
Refiiting is a reversal of removal.

On a side note while I had the lower part of the heater surround lifted I switched on ignition and side lights after swapping the bulbs, ( to check it was the bulb and not the holder) and got a dash error, (code not recognised, contact garage), however on refitting the message went away and the car started fine.
