Seicento Heater Blowing Cold - Can you help?

Hiya,

New to the forum, found it whilst trying to find advice on changing the coolant on my daughters Seicento S 1.1litre 02 plate.

Found a brilliant guide by scottishseicento, (well recommend a look) followed it to the letter last night with huge success apart from...

The heater now blows cold and even though the engine is well hot (radiator fan switches on & off).

Measured the coolant i took out (approx 3.2litres) and i seem to have approx 0.5litres still to go back in, guess that is the heater.

Have repeatedly bleed the system via the two suggested bleed points (bulkhead & drivers headlight) ended up burning fingers with boiling hot coolant but still no heat in the heater, got some great blisters on my fingers now though.

Heater worked fine before the coolant change.

I guess it is air in the system but not sure how to get it out if the bleeds don't do it.

Are there any other bleed points?

Can anyone advise?

Have added a similar comment / request to scottishseicento thread but thought i'd try a new thread too.

Need some help, especially as the weather is apparently turning cold.

There are only two bleed points. I recommend doing the one by the windscreen washer reservoir first, then the one up by the heater. You might like to try the top one with the engine up to temperature and the heater on full. I'd do the other one cold, engine off.

The heater on the Sei has a cock (source of much humour) which sometimes seizes or gets blocked up.

If all fails, the dread news is that a cold heater is a symptom of head gasket failure, so, compression test.

Topped up header tank (had gone down from last night) with remaining 0.5litres of coolant.

Bled the system again as you suggested (head light bleed point when engine off & cold, bulk head bleed point with engine running), ran the car up for a bit until warm.

Heater slowly started to blow warm which eventually became hot.

So, sorted thanks to the Fiat Forum.
