headunit heating up and dying on me

when i turn me tunes pretty loud,after i while it goes all crackly and i have to turn it down,its not as if i have it at max volume,it goes up to 35 and the loudest i would ever listen to it is about 26 if i was feeling mental, it seems to do this when i leave it at 22 or above? is there anyway to help keep ot cool or stop it doing this? any help appreciated team

sorry mate i dont know the model cuz a mate gave it to me, although it is the exact same one as in the ali g film,he has it in his renault 5 lol, its a kenwood baby! my claim to fame

could be the sound chip cos old kenwoods and VDO head units had crap chips and were easy to blow if wired up wrong.

have you got amps?
cheap amps shut off when too warm so they dont melt inside due to poor ventilation or cooling.

but as is always the case with auto electrics it could be anything lol
