Headlights not working

Hello there,
On Wednesday both dipped main beams stopped working. Side lights are fine, as is full beam when you pull the stalk (though full beam doesn't work when you push the stalk). I've checked the fuses and the bulbs and they're ok.
Looking through here, it seems the stalk is more likely to be the problem than a relay - is there a sensible way to check what's gone wrong? If it's the stalk, is that a nasty thing to change (for someone who likes to think he's ok at this sort of thing, but isn't really!!).
Thanks
John.

I had the same problem but sorted it yesterday on my day off!

Answer is replacing the stalk, apparently it's a common fault with bravo's, get a second hand one from a breakers yard or an online breakers or like me, get one off ebay!

If you've got a hayne's manual you can sort it yourself in less than an hour, can be fiddly at times but i managed it (Twice)!!!

Thanks

I'd never bought a Haynes as it doesn't cover my HGT, but I can't imagine this part will be any different....

Thanks for the idea - how much did you pay on eBay? (cheeky question, but no harm in asking!).

Thanks, John.

Re: Thanks

Hiya check the connector block under the steering column shroud before you change the stalk (wont cost anything) i had same prob and just crimped up connectors and no more probs

Re: Thanks

@ John - can't remember the price off the top of my head but roughly around £15+postage.
