Do the seicento headlight brackets break easy or is there adjusters that need tightened?

Someone has told me that their sei has been failed on the mot because of the 2 headlights moving when the bonnet is opened? Is this common? Or an easy fix?

Also, how difficult to replace the front nearside brake pipe? and the rear wheel bearing? It failed on these aswell.

other than the solid fixings, im pretty sure they have pressure clips too (for lack of better wording) which can break, usually yellow (on cinqs at least) and cheap to replace :)

dont know how the sei headlights are though as i know they have the 2 fittings on the top, wheras cinq has one side fitting and other side 2 pressure clip fittings :)

Nearside brake pipe - Flexi pipe - easyish, lots of wd40 night before, solid pipe - a pig but not nearly as bad as doing the drivers side solid pipe :)

Rear wheel bearing - only replaced by a complete hub - 30mm nut holding it on, best taking centre caps off and loosening it off first before jacking up car and removing wheels etc.

Thanks alex.

If im being honest, im thinking about buying a yellow sei :D

Coupe is dead. Dismantling it at the moment. Needs a rebuild but im not wasting another penny on it. Just had enough tbh.

For the lights, there are strange little clips inside which allow adjustment and snap. No one has come up with a cure yet (same on Cinq, more or less). It could be, though, that the assembly just isn't fitted properly.

Wheel bearings are a doddle -- just as Ghost says.

Sorry about the coupe.

RIP, eh?

There is a metal rod with ball on end that sits in a plastic cup thing with lots of individual legs off it, these break, often when trying to put on the plug on back of the bulb when they are getting changed, this mean headlamp is no longer held in place on the ball.

There is a cure which i have done to Cinq lights and Seicento lights, though it requires you having a small spring lying around, the kind you may find in horn push on back of old Cinq steering wheel. You hook that around the metal bulb holder section, and then hook over back off headlamp opening, and slip rubber cover over this hold headlamp against the ball, and still allows it to be adjusted.

I hope that makes sense.

Of course you could just use string tie headlamp in place and if its was pointing in correct place before the plastic thing broke it still will afterwards, but as not stretchy like a spring will not allow adjustment when tied

Otherwise it a new headlamp.

Aaron.

Thanks aaron.

It is that bit thats knackered. On both headlights... :(

Should i just buy new ones? Can i buy ones without the orange indicator that will still fit? :D

Ross

Btw i bought it. :D

£280 for a w 2000. Failed mot on headlights and rear wheel bearing.

Indicator is separate, no need to buy. :)

Up to you, really. A illustrated forensic investigation would be interesting, though. You could always get some from a scrappy: if you can grab the bit that holds the lamp in and wiggle it without the reflector rattling about in the shell, it's OK (expect a wee bit of movement, though).

Needs a rebuild but im not wasting another penny on it.

Wise man! basic rebuild on my Sei engine with most work done myself is looking at £500+. There's the point where its not viable, but you maybe do it for love, and then, there's the point where common sense kicks in. Guess a Coupe tub rebuild is gonna be at least or double the resale value!

It was gonna be £2300 for fully forged minimum and thats mates rate with a mechanic.

No thanks. :D

Btw, does the smoked indicator from the newer ones fit the older ones (must not mod, must not mod, must not mod, must not mod)
