My front headlinght (right) keeps steeming up, i've checked to make sure its ok and theres no holes etc and that seems fine so what else could it be or is it nothing to worry about. Its not the whole headlight but just near the bottom

My headlights seem to steam up a bit too and i cant see any holes etc.... but its on the outside lol if i wipe them on the outside its fine hmmm confusing

Mine occours on the left hand side (if ur inside the car)
And it does dry out when u put the headlights on for a short while
But its complete pain in da arse todo so

Best bet is try and dry them out - By either removing the whole unit and leaving it in the warm airing cupboard or really blasting it with the hairdrier to dry it out

Make sure it aint misty for the MOT as it will fail on it

might have to try that idea with the gel packs.

Mine is the left side too when sitting in the car, funny that is. I know its not on the outside cos when i tried to wipe it, it was deifinately on the inside

The one thing I am really not satisfied in my JTD Mk2 are the headlights.

The right started steaming up just after the warranty expired, and now also the left one started steaming up.

The right keeps blowing bulbs for the main beam, or so it seems. Yesterday I brought the car to the autowash with the left main beam working and the right blown, when I exited from the car wash both headlights where steamed up, and the right beam was working while the left was out.

Moreover I hate the fact that on the JTD changing the bulbs is almost impossible.

Also, I cannot raise or lower the right-side beam anymore, eversince I asked a mechanic at the Fisichella shop to change a bulb (yes, the father of the Formula One driver owns a FIAT Garage in Roma...)

Now, I will ask the question: HOW DO YO CHANGE BULBS ON A MK2 1.9 JTD?

shouldnt be messing with the screws thats for mot

if it's not working you need new electric adjusters worth checking they are indeed still plugged in thou

the lights are steaming up cos there a rubiish desighn that fiat later changed to stop this you howether can simply drill a couple of holes in the lowes back corner of the light unit best to remove them to do this and they will no longer steam up after a good dry

later lamps had a different back cover with an airater for want of a better word in the back and also had different bulbs as the h1's seem to blow quite a bit think they use h7

Hi Try transferring the seal on the bulb access cover from the LH light to the RH one and visa versa. The seals are a mirror image. The seals then present a new face to the light assembly and so help keep water out. It has worked on my Mk2 Punto.

i solved this problem by opening the back panel of the headlight and leaving it open in a very hot day

this drys out the inside and make sure you close it before you drive.

it takes ages to dry but its worth it

I have left it to the local artisan mechanic (as opposed to the official FIAT "CHANGE IT ALL!" mechanic) and he is dismantling everything, checking the integrity of the headlight, hanging them to dry, and then remounting everything...
