head light washers????

ive got a small problem, but it looks like its gonna cost me a re-spray if i dont sort it soon!!!

i have the HLX 1800 on the drivers side only, the headlight washer unit leaks from both holes, the passenger side is ok, im confused i have replaced it once, but no effect??

What am i missin and how do i put it rite, i wudnt mind if it was just water, but it is leavin run stains down the bumper and believe it or not, its now goin across the bumper to!!!

anyhelp wud b gratefully accepted!!!

May I be so bold as to suggest you disconnect the washers from the headlights or block the tubing under the bonnet. Who the hell wants their headlights sprayed anyway all it does is make a bloody mess of the bonnet.

thats a good suggestion but who wud want to buy a fiat that 1, the headlight washers dont work or 2, it has run stains all over it??

I wudnt, so thanks for the boldness but id rather find the solution that way i CUD BUY a car with either of these faults coz id no where to start looking!!

There are only three components from the valve onwards. The tube, the elbow connector then the sprayer. The likelyhood is the elbow joint either not sitting correctly or that it is not tight enough on the sprayer. These elbow connectors are only a couple of quid.

If the issue is that the fluid keeps seeping out the spray jet then the valve could be faulty as well as other components going back to the pump. As I assume this is only happening on one side it has to be from the valve onwards.

Like mentioned before I would disconnect the useless gizmos, they are a pain in the ass when they come on automatically and do absolutely nothing to aid keeping the lights clean.

cheers nige, yes it is only one side and yes its seeping out of the sprayer n runnin down the front of the car, have you any idea where i can locate this valve coz im lookin but cant even follow the tubin very far!!

they mite b useless but im not gonna disconnect them as wen i go to sell it hopefully in a month or 2, i wud have to connect them again.

Follow the pipe work back, its in the middel at the fron. There is one pipe that comes from the motor and its at that T piece.

However that valve piece only prevents flow back up the pipe, it wouldnt prevent water going the other way which is the case now. Wierd!

Thats all very well but who amongst us can honestly say we checked that these anoying little accesories were fully functional before we bought our mid-sized fiat beasts?? I sure as hell didn't, I floored it and then decided to buy it for the engine, not the cleanliness of the headlights.
