Head Gasket, How much?

Look like I need a new head gasket, it's not to bad apparently but obviously needs doing.

It's for a 1.6 brava on a P reg.

What are the symptoms?

Water levels dropping (there is a small leak in one of the hoses), car over heating. There is no sign of gunk in the oil or any oil in the radiator.

Took the car to the garage to get the leak fitted and they did a head test (hows that done?) and they diagnosed a small leak.

They didn't say where its leaking?

You only really get oil mess when its been leaking for a while or leaking really badly.

Might be worth getting the leaky hose changed and the system bled fully, it could just be that causing the probs. With alloy heads you don't really want to be taking them off unless you really have to.
