Hi people, new on here, found the forum with a google search for 'Fiat Scudo Forum' and here I am.

I recently bought a 2002 2.0 jtd panel van in fair to good condition with 105 thousand on the clock, runs well with little service history.

My issue really started yesterday when it would not start, it was the coldest morning here in rural lincolnshire for some time, has been slow in starting sometimes but always did, so thought to change the glow plugs.

Well begininning to realise this is a common problem, was the first plug on the left, ok other 3 swapped out no problem, the 1 that snapped is still in there below the thread line of the plug so I am guessing is held with only carbon desposits and or some sort of corrosion

Still have the starting issue, it just almost isn't, checked the injectors and they are holding pressure, it will start with easy start blown in the airpipe.

When warm after running is still a bugger to start, please help.

Hi
Sorry about the glow plug, it needs dealing with, hope head doesn't have to come off. If you ever do glow plugs again steep them in easing oil for a few days, applying more each day, then have a go, it's always worked for me. Not sure how much these engines rely on the glolugs for starting in cold weather.

This sounds like the injectors are knacked, As you say they are holding pressure but the issue is normaly with the fuel delivery from the tip. If you have anybody that can retip them in your local area it might be a lot cheaper.

Ok, thanks for the replies, had it plugged in to a code reader and nothing came up, retipping the injectors? will look into that.

Now a new battery on the thing £80, the van is burning off diesel as it turns, just not starting up.....

(n) runs great when running, just not ****ing starting :bang:

well the starter has now given up, also white wire going to high pressure unit was badly corroded, now need to fit new starter and make good the connection.

might be the problem? certainly will not help!

"When warm after running is still a bugger to start"

Well you can eliminate the glow-plugs, then.
