Hi

Just got a Fiat 500 so thought I would join a forum. Hi :)

Picked this up the other day- 500c GQ

<edit> have to wait 5 posts.

So far i'm loving it. Totally, totally different experience to the cars/bikes i've got. Perfect commuter tool.

I could swear we've had lots of proud new owners posting up pix of their new 500 on a first post.

Haven't we?

If not, JR, please repost this in the dementia section.

How did you manage to post the image of the instrument cluster with the instant. fuel consumption of 77.4 MPG?
Please don't tell me you were driving at 57 MPH and decided to take a photo!

I would, only I've forgotten where it is....

Actually this is linked from member's motors, which is Alan's section...

Nice circumvention of the rules

Er, not exactly subtle...

But they're nice piccies, so I think a little forgiveness is in order.

Welcome to the forum, Savio .

Please try not to break all the rules on your first day.

2350 rpm, that's about right for 57mph in 5th; looks like an 'in-flight' pic to me.

What a dick head is all I can say, if indeed he/she did take this image when driving the car at this speed.
306Maxi also seemed to think it was cool to do this. God help us.
Sorry if I have got the wrong end of something here. But looks clear enough to me that the driver would need to take such an image.
Any momentary distraction from driving is potentially lethal. Anyone stupid enough to do this is too stupid to be the privileged holder of a driving licence. Weapon on four wheels.

relax people do much worse things when driving. if its an empty road a quick pic wont kill anyone. if thats the case then lets ban smoking and drinking water whilst driving!

no swearing also please

I use my left knee to change gear if I'm lighting up a fag whilst on the phone. Taking a quick snap on a clear road is not any worse then fiddling with the stereo IMO. All very right-on.

and taking hand off the wheel to change gear

Far too many dick heads approving of this. I now realise I am an old fart. However, I still have a sense of what is just not right, This is totally wrong. If any of you have lost a loved one at the hands of a distracted driver you will put this post to bed.
My tuppence worth, based on my lived experience. Idiots who do not realise that driving is a privilege, and requires your total concentration should not be on the road.

Well tbh I don't think anyone would entirely disagree with you even if you are an old fart!! For me, seeing drivers texting makes my blood boil. Let's not get too uptight about it though.

Really nice bicolour scheme and the wheels are the DB's - love the red logo on the centre caps.

Nice TFT display as well but totally agree with Wellfan that it ain't clever to take a pic of it while driving. Picking up phone, selecting camera function, composing shot and taking the image means taking your eyes off the road for several seconds in total and is definitely not the same as taking your hand off the wheel to change gear, adjust the stereo or grab a drink.

Sounds like a warm welcome.

Apologies for 'breaking' the rules. I've been on internet forums since 1995 and this is the first time i've got heat on signing up.

Just to make your blood boil: I also ride motorbikes, sometimes with one hand and sometimes I chose to not cross the road at the designated crossing.

The picture wasn't taken by me btw, but by my go pro. I'd taped it to my junk and a fit lass had just walked by otherwise you'd have got an image of the footwell.

Hello anyway, but christ almighty it's a bit highly strung here?!

:D

Forgot to say - welcome to the forum!

You'll find many here are forthright about expressing their views (where's Maxi BTW?) but I think that's an essential part of a healthy forum. You'll find loads of in-depth knowledge and great advice here, so please don't be put off by a few reactions to what might have come across as dangerous driving.
