3 time now we've had the handbreak release if you knock it when getting in.
First time I suspected I'd caught the button but the other day I leaned in and my lg pressing the side of the handbreak caused it to release.
We park on a slope and luckily always leave it in gear. Still it's a shock when it rolls back a few feet.
It's out of it's 3 year warrenty now (new style 2.2 Diesel Ulysse)
Yesterday it had been parked on the drive and I got in. I tried just pushing down on the handbreak arm and it snapped off all the way to the floor.
However repeated attempts to pull it on and get it to fail never work.
I suspect the ratchet maybe worn but can't examine it easily (if at all).
Any thoughts anyone.

It's better to be safe than sorry - bite the bullet and fit a new one.

You won't rest until you do 'cos there will be that little voice in your head  telling you to get up check the handbrake on the car, just in case

Well new handbrake fitted but word from Fiat is: Tough your outside 3 year warrenty foot the bill yourdself. Or words to that effect.
