I have a problem similar to that already described where the handbrake seizes on. It used to happen occasionally if parked a while and would come off if I rocked the car using the engine. However it is solid now, having only been parked a couple of hours. I am not sure if the problem is the handbrake cable or something in the drum, but I can't the drum off due brake being applied.

Can anyone advise how to remove the drum please?

I had this problem on my 1998 eltd, I previously described a fix that worked for me, new shoes and slave cylinders, ground off lip on drum when it was off. To get them off, make sure handbrake cable is slacked off, remove 12mm stud on drum and tap all round with hammer, if it wont budge you will have to be brutal and pull off, this usually breaks the small backing washer but you can get a complete new kit of springs and clips. New slave cylinders and shoes cost me about €90. I used a grinder to remove the lip on the drum, if too worn they will have to be renewed as well. Hope this works,
Tony
