I had a rant last March after Halfrauds failed my daughters Panda (PB4) on rear shock absorbers being unsafe and the front suspension being in need of new arms and mounts. Their offer to repair suggested £750 of repairs were immediately required.

I
bought the car just a few months before, and I specifically bought one with £20K and a full service history. I specifically inspected the dampers and the front end too and it had my seal of apporval. My reaction was this is utter rubbish take it somewhere else and dont take any crap. The car passed and we specifically asked for close attentio to these areas. Our garage said there was absolutley nothing to fail the car. Possibly some tiny cracks in the damper bushes but nowhere near any fail or even advisory.

Well Pandabird3 passed its MOT in January but in April I decided it was clonky so investigated. It transpired it had failing upper damper bushes, so 2 new sets of Monro dampers bought. PB3 the dampers were in fact shot and non functional, not that it was terribly obvious. These were swapped out and a big improvement noted.

Well today some 9 months after HalFRAUDS MOT I finally did more tha a visual onspection. Both rear shocks removed revealing they were indeed PERFECT, fully functional and absolutely no signs of failure of any kind. SO the new dampers are back on the shelf where they belong. The old ones are still as good as a new apir so really no point in changing them and I would say more than 12 months life is to be expected and probably more than 2 years!!!

SO hal FRAUDS you get a free advert for outright dishonesty and lying to customers. Im going to have words with the Northenden manager in the next couple of weeks and he wont like my tone, demenorr or what I will have to say. I DONT LIKE BEING DEFRAUDED and I dont like attempted frauds aginst my family either. To say this has relit my fire would be putting it mildly. The only good bit is, in spite of the cold today and operating with a bad back Ive done a thorough visual on the rear of PB4 so Im confident for the coming years MOT in a few weeks that these items are in sound condition. For ionsurance reasons I keep full photographic surveys of our cars to prove condition. You can be todays inspection was fully recorded.

I urge anyone thinking of using Hafords to reconsider on the basis of this attempted con. It is utterly unacceptable, and VOSA have now bee sent all the details. If you want to give money away for nothing, dont give it to these crooks, feel free just to send it to m! I wont have earnbed it either. OR better still give the savinbgs from going to an honest garage to charity which you feel deserves it.

We will never set foot in this cheap and nasty business ever again. The best way to not be conned is to avoid places known for dishonesty.
